**Summary:** The US Supreme Court has ruled that President Donald Trump's executive order attempting to limit birthright citizenship for children of undocumented immigrants or temporary visa holders is unconstitutional.

**Key points:**
- The 6-3 ruling upholds the 150-year-old interpretation of the 14th Amendment, which grants citizenship to anyone born on US soil.
- The court rejected the administration's argument that 'subject to the jurisdiction' of the US requires a legal residency status.
- Lower courts had previously blocked the executive order, preventing it from taking effect since it was signed.

**Why it matters:** The decision preserves a long-standing constitutional principle regarding citizenship and represents a significant legal defeat for the administration's immigration agenda.
